Who is Kimberley Carmona?
I am a storyteller. As a former journalist who turned in her human sources for data, I take pride in knowing how to tell a story from data. My training as a journalist taught me how to ask the right questions, find patterns, communicate, and most importantly, think outside the box.
But what led to this change in careers?
I am a naturally curious person. I love to learn new things, whether its from popular media, research articles, or lessons from the real world. My curiosity in consumer behavior was the reason why my storytelling interests changed.
I always had a tick when working in customer service. Learning about my customers made me want to find better ways to improve the customer experience, and understand why customers come back. From this revelation, I decided to apply to UT-Austin's School of Information to earn a Master's degree in information studies.
After taking various courses on information, I found that my passion for data increased. I knew I had found my calling in life, but knew that finding a data job within a customer success department would be difficult. Five months after graduating, I found myself working for TrustRadius, a trusted review site for business technology, where I was hired as a customer success support analyst. It was the perfect position for me as the job allowed me to help our customers while using all the skills I had gained in graduate school.
Outside the office, I am a part-time blogger, a taco connoisseur, and I enjoy reading autobiographies, crime, and mystery novels. I also enjoy baking, cooking, and buying new recipe books. My favorite thing to bake is chocolate chip pumpkin bread.
If you want to talk anything related to data, data visualizations, information, social media, or tacos, please feel free to reach out.
